Still

Be still and Know that I am God - Psalm 46:10 

ESV comment: In the true knowledge of God and His deliverance there is peace. 

My eyes race past these 

Dear words 

Which have been robbed of their power 

Perhaps 

By commercialism’s pillaging. 

Printed on too many coffee cups

And plastic signs 

The key to one of life’s greatest gifts 

Peace 

Seems less than 

the treasure that it is. 

But if you stop 

And be still 

You can feel the quiet force 

In the middle of the hurricane 

A hush that holds the haunting whisper 

Know. 

And isn’t that what we have been seeking 

Since that garden long ago? 

The driving urge pushing us on 

Knowledge our holy grail?

In the peace and quiet 

It turns out 

We find the surprising upside down

Kingdom 

The banner over the gate to enter 

Read backwards or front words, 

(Whatever way the wind or spirit blows) 

Holds two truths 

Not in paradox but in perfect harmony. 

Beautiful faces on opposite sides 

Of one precious coin. 

Be still to know 

In knowing 

We can be still.
